REINFORCEMENTS LFC : End of Jurgen Klopp Era find out the new Liverpool signing ahead of new season

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today. Reinforcements at both ends of the pitch, and indeed the price spectrum, have been linked.

Leny Yoro (Lille

Liverpool has been linked with an expensive solution at the heart of its defense. With Joël Matip on his way and Virgil van Dijk set to turn 33 in July, the Reds are eyeing up Leny Yoro of Lille.

That’s according to L’Equipe., which claims Liverpool is ready to compete with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain for the Frecnhman. Lille values Yoro at around $105m (£85m/€100m) but there is reportedly an acceptance that a lower fee will be enough to get him.

Yoro only has 12 months left on his contract and Lille missed out on the Champions League so risk losing him for nothing if he isn’t sold this summer. It is claimed he is now  Liverpool being represented by super-agent Jorge Mendes.

The new Liverpool home shirt for the 2024/2025 season features a chrome yellow pattern design and is a modern take on the legendary ’84 home shirt – a season which saw the Reds become European Champions for the fourth time in Rome and the first English Club to win a treble of major honours. You can buy it now.

£60-£125

Liverpool.com says: It’s said that Liverpool has an interest in Yoro but it would have to be viewed as a truly transformative signing to warrant that kind of spend. With Ibrahima Konaté, Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah already in the ranks, and Van Dijk by no means finished yet, the youngster would have to live up to that price tag just to get into the side.cv

If the recruitment department really likes what it sees from Yoro’s numbers, perhaps it will equip Slot with the expensive defender but there are likely cheaper alternatives.

Brajan Gruda (Mainz)

Liverpool is among a host of clubs looking at Mainz talent Brajan Gruda. That’s according to Sport Bild who reports of the interst in the forward.

The Albanian forward has stood out (alongside on-loan Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg) in a Mainz side that narrowly avoided relegation from the Bundesliga. In particular, his ability in take-ons is among the very best around.

Per FBref, the 19-year-old averages 3.78 successful take-ons per 90 minutes, placing him in the 97th percentile of forwards around Europe’s top five leagues. It’s more than Vinicius Júnior, and leaves chief Liverpool dribbler Luis Díaz (2.29 per 90) way behind.

Gruda is expected to cost around $22m (£17m/€20m). The left-footer plays primarily off the right wing, in the Mohamed Salah role.
