In the latest transfer news, Liverpool appear ready to shell out the required €30 million to sign highly rated forward Assane Diao from his Real Betis contract.

The Senegal-born Spaniard currently plays for Betis Deportivo Balompié – the reserve side for La Liga outfit Betis and is a target for the Reds.

Liverpool ready to pay release clause for Assane Diao
Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that the Anfield club is ready to pay the “full” €30 million release clause in the 18-year-old’s contract.

The report goes on to add that this amount “would not represent a significant financial obstacle” for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Premier League giants are seemingly more than willing to continue spending to make the most of Liverpool 2.0.

The Merseyside club’s management has already started mapping out their plans for the 2024 summer transfer window. They reportedly see Diao, with his technical skills and prolific scoring ability, as an integral part of their project going forward.

His arrival could add a fresh dynamism to the frontline that has been somewhat reliant on the prowess of Mohamed Salah.

While Salah has been instrumental in Liverpool’s recent successes, his future at Anfield hangs in the balance.

The Egyptian winger’s current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025.

His contract situation has ignited speculation that Salah could be headed elsewhere next summer, leaving Liverpool with a void to fill.

If Salah does leave, Diao could be help fill the void. The Senegalese forward, who has already made his mark in international football, is primed to take on the Premier League challenge.

Although stepping into Salah’s shoes won’t be an easy task, Diao’s signing could represent an exciting new beginning for Liverpool.

Any potential move for the player would likely see Klopp having to adjust his tactical approach to accommodate the Senegalese international.
