Arsenal receive big boost with the return of world class player ahead of FC Porto clash

Arsenal are set to welcome back world class player ahead of the Champions League second leg tie against Porto after being spotted in training

Seems things are coming together for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal in the Premier League after making their best ever start to life in a calender year with eight consecutive victories.

The Gunners are currently top of the Premier League table with just a point ahead of the chasing park Liverpool and Manchester City following their 2-1 win over Brentford on Saturday.

Kai Havertz was the hero with an 86th minute header to spark a frenzy scene at the Emirates Stadium. Now the Gunners have been boosted with a return of another first team player ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League second leg tie against FC Porto.

Defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has been spotted in training since returning from the Asian Cup in January injured. The Japanese international, absent from the Gunners’ lineup since the New Year’s eve loss to Fulham, had represented Japan in the Asian Cup before returning with a calf injury.

The 25-year-old defender, hailed as one of Arsenal’s standout players this season, played a crucial role in the first half of the Premier League season, and his absence has been keenly felt across the squad.

Tomiyasu’s return to training comes at a crucial time for Arsenal, who currently trail 1-0 in the European tie against Porto. Despite expecting to lose Gabriel Martinelli with a foot injury, Arsenal will be boosted by the return of the Japanese international.

With Tomiyasu in contention for the Porto clash, there is a strong possibility of seeing the former Bologna defender back in action for Arsenal in the coming month. Arsenal will face difficult fixtures against Porto and Manchester City, and having Tomiyasu fully fit for the Premier League run-in could prove instrumental in bolstering their title aspirations.
