BREAKING:As long as we have 11 players, we will go for it’ – Klopp
A depleted Liverpool “will go for it,” according to manager Jurgen Klopp, who believes Chelsea are “definitely” favorites for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.
There were no Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah, Thiago, Dominik Szoboszlai, Joel Matip, Curtis Jones, or Darwin Nunez available.
In the Wembley final on Sunday, Liverpool will face Chelsea.
As long as there are 11 players, Klopp said, “We have to see who will be qualified for the final [but I said it before the game]against Luton.”
Will people really like us? No, not at all.
They have made significant progress since we last played them, and it will be challenging. Tonight was exceptional in this regard.
Prior to the meeting with Luton, Klopp confirmed that Jones has a bone ligament injury, Alisson is sidelined due to muscle issues, and Jota will be “months” out from knee surgery.
Long-term injuries include Alexander-Arden, Szoboszlai, and Thiago, but Klopp has remained evasive about whether Salah and Nunez will be available on Sunday.
Salah scored off the bench after returning from an injury sustained while representing Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations, but he was later excluded from the matchday squad against Luton. Nunez scored at halftime in the victory at Brentford on Saturday.
Young people take action.
Klopp had to rely on his team’s depth as they tried to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League because there were no regular starts for the Luton visit.
Liverpool’s bench had five players under the age of 19, with 16-year-old midfielder Trey Nyoni among the substitutes, while Klopp fielded a starting lineup with an average of 25 years and 68 days, making him the youngest club member since February 2018.
Jayden Danns, the 18-year-old son of former Crystal Palace midfielder Neil, made his senior bench debut in the 89th minute and assisted Liverpool in scoring the game’s fourth goal. Harvey Elliott ultimately took the ball.
Then children arrived and performed admirably. The way culture educated the following generation is cool, according to Klopp.
“Obviously, it’s not perfect. How many games, if Joel Matip hadn’t been hurt, would Jarell Quansah have played?
Quansah has taken the initiative. similar to Conor [Bradley] and Bobby [Clark]James McConnell Our young boys have made significant progress.
Elliott raises in a century-appropriate manner.
Elliott, 20, made his 100th Liverpool appearance that evening, which turned out to be a special one for him as his 90th-minute goal was their first in all of this season’s competitions.
The midfielder, who joined the Reds from Fulham aged 16, carried himself as one of the more senior players against Luton and was essential in helping his side to pull four points clear at the top of the table.
His highest total in a Premier League game was five attempts, and he made more chances (seven) and touched (17) than anyone else on the field.
Elliott, who scored twice in 22 appearances this season, has surpassed last season’s record of just one goal in the Premier League after leading the league in passes (27).
Liverpool is a believer.
In what is Klopp’s final season in charge, Liverpool remain in contention for four trophies as they look to add to the six they have collected since he arrived in 2015.
They have recovered 22 points from losing Premier League positions this season, more than any other team, demonstrating their unwavering resolve.
It was one of the best games I’ve ever seen us play, and the boys did exceptionally well, according to Klopp.
“The boys are the center of attention.” They took a chance on themselves. Nobody needed to learn that lesson tonight, but this club can accomplish special things, according to our audience.
Liverpool is the first team in Europe’s top five leagues to have five players score 10 or more goals across all competitions, including Salah (19), Jota (14), Nunez (13), Cody Gakpo (11), and Luis Diaz (10). This has been a key aspect of the season.
