  • Arsenal achieved something they failed to do last season and beat Manchester City in the Premier League yesterday. Gabriel Martinelli’s late winner means the Gunners are now joint-top of the table and two points above City.
  • Both Tottenham and Arsenal have won six of their opening eight games of the 2023/24 campaign with Ange Postecoglou’s men leading the way on goals scored. Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Brighton on the same day has added some breathing room.
  • The second international break of the season is now upon us and focus at London Colney will divert on to the visit to Chelsea in less than two weeks’ time. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have finally got the wheels moving at Stamford Bridge after a poor start to the season.
  • With that being said, football.london takes a look at the next five fixtures for Arteta’s men and their title rivals.
  • Chelsea (A) – Saturday, October 21
  • A London derby is Arsenal’s first fixture following the October international break as they take on Chelsea. Last season Mikel Arteta’s side did the double over the Blues and Pochettino’s men have struggled to get going this season. After a difficult start, Chelsea have won their last two games including an emphatic 4-1 win at Burnley.
  • Sheffield United (H) – Saturday, October 28
  • Arsenal are then back at Emirates Stadium with Sheffield United as the visitors in search of avoiding an immediate drop back down to the Championship. The Blades were unable to respond to their drubbing last weekend at the hands of Newcastle in the game against West Ham with a 2-0 loss.
  • Newcastle United (A) – Saturday, November 4
  • Arsenal were one of few teams to beat Newcastle at St James’ Park last season and they will be hoping to do the same against the Magpies for their first game of November. Eddie Howe’s side put their bad start emphatically behind them by beating Sheffield United 8-0 and Burnley 2-0.
  • Burnley (H) – Saturday, 11 November
  • Arteta’s men then welcome another newly-promoted team to north London in the form of Burnley. Vincent Kompany’s side have not kicked off their Premier League adventure in the best of form but they have looked bright in spells. Their loss to Newcastle means they are still awaiting their first league win of the season.
  • Brentford (A) – Saturday, 25 November*
  • The Gunners round-off a busy November – that includes two Champions League games – with a tough trip to the Gtech Community Stadium. Thomas Frank’s men have struggled to get going in the opening eight games, winning only one. Their dramatic loss to Man United on Saturday leaves them only three points above the relegation zone.
