HUGE BOOST Liverpool injury latest before Arsenal amid Alexis Mac Allister, MO Salah, Thiago Alcantara Updates.

Liverpool injury news: The Reds went 15 matches unbeaten in the Premier League by beating Chelsea on Wednesday night and now face a crucial title clash with Arsenal.

Jürgen Klopp was able to give some more minutes to Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson after their injury lay-offs as Liverpool put Chelsea to the sword on Wednesday night. While Alexander-Arnold has been missing since the FA Cup win at Arsenal, his teammate has been sidelined with the shoulder injury picked up in October.

But both full-backs played the final 20 minutes against Chelsea, having also come off the bench against Norwich, to put themselves in contention for this weekend’s title clash with Arsenal at the Emirates. There was more good news for Klopp, with Dominik Szoboszlai also making a goalscoring return following his spell in the treatment room.

Liverpool’s 4-1 win extended the lead at the top of the Premier League to five points and another victory over Mikel Arteta’s side will put the Reds in a great position to go on and win the title. Klopp though still has several injury issues in his squad.

There remains a number of long-term absentees while Klopp was able to issue an update on a player who picked up a knock against Chelsea. Here, Liverpool.com runs you through all the latest injury news, looking at who is at Klopp’s disposal.

Alexis Mac Allister

There were concerns among the Anfield faithful on Wednesday night when Mac Allister went down in the closing stages. The Argentine collided with Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei and received treatment off the pitch. With Liverpool having made all five subs, Mac Allister could not be withdrawn and saw out the rest of the match, although he looked particularly uncomfortable.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Klopp allayed any serious injury fears, insisting: “Macca on the knee — knee on knee — stuff like this. Nothing major, at least nobody told me that yet. So it’s all fine. We need them all — and it’s not a phrase, it’s exactly how it is.”

Thiago Alcântara

Liverpool has been without the Spanish midfielder for the entire season after he underwent hip surgery in the summer. But Klopp confirmed earlier this week that he is back in training, and already catching the eye. However, Thiago is unlikely to be thrown in any time soon.

“Thiago trained [for the] first time, which was an incredible moment after all the months he couldn’t. And then training at the level he trains — oof! But he needs time. It is anyway a wonderful sign,” Klopp said ahead of the win over Chelsea.

Stefan Bajčetić

Like Thiago, the young midfielder has had his season severely hampered by injuries. He suffered an adductor injury at the end of last season and had a setback earlier in this campaign. Klopp revealed last week that he hopes to have Bajčetic back “sooner rather than later” but he is not yet back in training, with no timeframe given at the moment.

Kostas Tsimikas

Greek defender Tsimikas has not played since suffering a collarbone injury in the draw with Arsenal back in December. But Klopp confirmed last week that he is waiting to be cleared by the club’s medical team to return to full training. “Kostas is close. He’s actually fit, he just has to wait now for the green light because the bone healing takes much longer, but the plate is doing the job in the moment,” Klopp said.

Joël Matip

It appears the 32-year-old could well have played his last game for Liverpool after suffering an ACL injury in the win over Fulham in December. Matip is out of contract at the end of the season, and it is unclear at this stage if he will get a new deal.

Klopp previously suggested that he would be offered a new deal if it was down to him, but Liverpool’s next manager may ultimately have other ideas. The Reds have been linked with transfers for younger options, so it seems likely Matip could join his manager in leaving at the end of the season.

Ben Doak

Liverpool teenager Doak is continuing his rehabilitation after undergoing surgery on a knee injury. The Reds confirmed in December that the Scotland star had torn his meniscus and was therefore facing a fight to return this season. The setback could also stop him from playing at Euro 2024 this summer.

On the injury, Pep Lijnders said: “It will take a longer time. He is young, he is a fit guy, he is a positive guy so for sure he will come back stronger, and we need him to come back with the same fire he has with the ball.”
