Jürgen Klopp is set to welcome Mohamed Salah back to Melwood next week as the forward returns to Liverpool for his rehabilitation from a muscle injury.

However, there is a possibility that Salah could head back to the Africa Cup of Nations if Egypt advances to the tournament semi-finals.

Salah’s absence didn’t hinder Liverpool’s performance as they secured a 4-0 victory against Bournemouth, extending their lead at the top of the Premier League by five points. Darwin Núñez and Diogo Jota each scored two goals in the second half to secure the win.

Following his injury during Egypt’s draw with Ghana, Salah will miss Egypt’s final Group B match against Cape Verde, as well as the last 16 and quarter-finals if Egypt progresses that far. Klopp explained that the plan is for Salah to return from Ivory Coast to receive the best medical treatment.

While the decision is not yet finalized, Klopp stated that it would make sense for Salah to do his rehabilitation with Liverpool’s medical team. However, if Egypt reaches the final and Salah is fit, there is a possibility that he could return to Ivory Coast. Klopp emphasized that the priority is Salah’s well-being and that the people in Ivory Coast would take care of him if needed.
