Liverpool’s interest in the talented Bundesliga star, Piero Hincapie, has been confirmed as manager Jurgen Klopp looks to strengthen his squad. The club is reportedly making a serious bid for the Bayer Leverkusen defender, but the success of the deal may depend on Xabi Alonso’s involvement.

Liverpool is in need of a new center-half to replace the injured Joel Matip, who is expected to be out for the rest of the season due to an ACL injury. With defensive options limited, Klopp is considering a high-quality defensive addition in 2024.

Currently, Liverpool has Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez as potential partners for first-choice defender Virgil van Dijk. However, Klopp is aware that the squad will be stretched thin if another injury occurs to one of their center-halves.

Despite being alive in four competitions, Liverpool faces the challenge of West Ham in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. Regardless of the outcome, Klopp had always planned to add another center-half in the 2024 transfer window, especially with Matip’s contract expiring in July 2024.

Liverpool has reportedly identified three potential central defensive options to strengthen their squad. Unfortunately, they have already missed out on Lucas Beraldo, who signed with PSG. However, Liverpool remains keen on Hincapie, and transfer expert Neil Jones has confirmed their admiration for the player.
