Liverpool transfer target André Trindade is on the verge of leaving Copa Libertadores champions Fluminense, according to his manager Fernando Diniz.

The Reds enquired over the availability of the 22-year-old during the summer transfer window, however, the Brazilian side rebuffed interest as they set sights on clinching their first-ever Copa.

Daveockop.com exclusively revealed that Liverpool were still in the race to sign Andre from Fluminense in the January transfer window but it is unknown if they will make an official offer in coming weeks.

The defensive midfielder is also attracting interest from Premier League clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal, and Fulham who reportedly had representatives in Brazil last week.

Speaking in an interview, Brazil manager Diniz said after their 1-0 win over Sao Paulo on Thursday: “André’s departure is imminent and they are two players who were trained at Fluminense and who, both of them, have had very good times and have had good times again here at the club.

“Apart from them, we have other possibilities, but I think they’re players I’m counting on a lot for next year.”

Andre recently lauded Jurgen Klopp and labeled him as a great coach.

“I follow the outside games a little bit and I know that their [Liverpool’s] work is exceptional,” said the midfielder via Spanish publication AS.

“Without a doubt, he is a great coach, very intelligent and successful. But at the moment, my coach is Diniz, a person who I appreciate a lot off the field and who understands my style of play. I know how much I’ve grown in the field under his guidance.”

He added: “I don’t like to project too much into the future. “I’ve been at Fluminense for 10 years, I have a contract and I’m very happy here.

“Reaching the final of the Libertadores is a childhood dream, and I just want to enjoy the moment with my teammates, we are fighting to win this important title for the club.”
