BREAKING : André transfer agreed, work on three key contracts – Liverpool ideal January in perfect scenario
Liverpool should be looking to get a transfer deal pre-agreed for Brazilian midfielder André. That and more important work would make up the ideal January.
Fluminense and Brazil midfielder André Trindade is a player that Liverpool has looked at.
Liverpool moved onto 23 points in the Premier League from a possible 30 this weekend by comfortably beating Nottingham Forest at Anfield. Goals from Diogo Jota, Darwin Núñez and Mohamed Salah wrapped up the result with plenty to spare, and there could easily have been more wins collected were it not for that infamous VAR error that cost Luis Díaz at Tottenham.
With its Europa League group all but wrapped up and Bournemouth in the last-16 of the Carabao Cup coming up this week, Liverpool is handily placed in all competitions nonetheless, with a squad that should be capable of fighting on all fronts. A lot like the start of the season before last — before, of course, the Reds were only a couple of results away from winning the quadruple — Liverpool is going under the radar.
In the January window of that season, the addition of Díaz was an important one. That mid-campaign boost gave another element to the Liverpool team and helped push it on to challenge on all four fronts. This time around, there should be something similar being planned once again.
André Trindade appears to be a realistic, relatively inexpensive player who could offer something new to Liverpool as a mid-season boost in early 2024. The Reds saw a $32m (£26m/€30m) bid turned down by the Brazilian’s club, Fluminense, during the summer, according to Globo Esporte, but he has recently admitted that while a summer exit was unlikely, a January one could be on the cards.
“I think every player one day dreams of playing for a big club in Europe, in a big league,” André has explained to CONMEBOL Libertadores in the last couple of days. “But I decided to keep my word because when the January window closed, [Fluminense manager Fernando] Diniz arrived and told me that he wanted me here until the end of the year. We didn’t know that a proposal of that amount would arrive and I told him that, regardless of what happened, I would be there until the end of the season.
“It ended up passing and arriving in the middle of the year, we were still in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores. It was a very difficult decision to make. I think if I had accepted this proposal, I don’t know if I would have felt 100 per cent comfortable because I had already agreed with Diniz. He really values his word, his honesty. I know that when we do the right things, good things always happen. And in January he told me that without a doubt, if I stayed I would gamble and my value would increase.”
