Arsenal are facing two key injury concerns ahead of the Premier League clash against Sheffield United this weekend. Gabriel Jesus was withdrawn during the 2-1 win against Sevilla in the Champions League with a hamstring problem.

The Brazil international has suffered with a number of injury issues during his time at the Emirates Stadium – but Mikel Arteta will be hoping Jesus is fit to face Sheffield United on Saturday. Meanwhile, Thomas Partey picked up a thigh issue in training on Monday and is a doubt to face Paul Heckingbottom’s side.

Jurrien Timber remains sidelined with a knee issue and the Dutchman is expected to return to action in March 2024. So, with that being said, football.london has taken a look at the latest news to come out of the treatment room at London Colney.

Gabriel Jesus
Gabriel Jesus was excellent against Sevilla on Tuesday night, netting a goal and providing an assist but there was an injury worry when he pulled up clutching his hamstring late on in the game. Eventually, he limped off for Eddie Nketiah with ten minutes remaining on the night. It remains to be seen how serious the issue is.

Jesus was sent for a scan on his hamstring on Thursday as Arteta patiently awaits the results. The Gunners boss is expected to provide a fresh update on the Brazil international in his press conference on Friday.

Injury: Hamstring

Expected return date: N/A

What Arteta has said: “Big games are for big players. He needed to produce those moments to win in a stadium like this. He’s done it for us in a really big way. Then, really sad because he felt something in his hamstring and I’m worried about that.”

Thomas Partey
football.london understands that Partey sustained a thigh injury in training on Monday. A club statement read: “Thomas Partey misses out on tonight’s game with a muscle issue.”

Injury: Thigh

Expected return date: N/A

What Arteta has said: “Thomas picked up an injury yesterday in training. Unfortunately, it’s a muscle injury. We don’t know the extent of it – a big miss for us.”

Jurrien Timber Dutch international underwent successful surgery and is now in the ‘recovery phase’ of his rehabilitation. He was in attendance for the game against Man United earlier this season.

football.london spoke to Timber post-match where the 22-year-old was still using the aid of two crutches to move about. Asked how he was feeling with his recovery, a swift, ‘good, good’ was the response. He will be sorely missed, especially with the club failing to find a suitable replacement in the summer transfer window.
