England fans have questioned Lee Carsley’s decision to start Kyle Walker against Finland in the Nations League as Trent Alexander-Arnold is forced into left back.

Carsley’s England bounced back from their recent defeat in comfortable fashion, as they cruised to a 3-1 victory courtesy of goals from Jack Grealish, Declan Rice and Alexander-Arnold.

Understandably Carsley made significant changes to the England line-up that were beaten by Greece, with Walker coming in for Rico Lewis in defense.

However, the decision to play Walker, forced Alexander-Arnold into the left-back position for the first time in his career.

Considering both player’s form, the decision to play Alexander-Arnold out-of-position in favour of Walker was a surprising one, however, the Liverpool star did his talking on the pitch with a sensational free-kick goal.

Walker has endured a difficult start to the season at the Etihad, with his head to head battle against Adama Traore before the international break raising eyebrows.

The full-back has always been one of the first names on the team sheet at recent major tournaments due to his electric pace, however, now aged 34 Walker could be losing his greatest asset.

Walker failed to put his early season form behind him against Finland and looked sloppy on occasions as fans took to social media to voice their concerns over his selection.

One fan wrote: “How is Kyle Walker still getting a start for England? He’s not put a good international performance in for at least three years.”

A second posted: “Kyle Walker is having a disasterclass, but you won’t hear about it because his name isn’t Trent Alexander-Arnold.”

Another commented: “I’m not a Liverpool fan but I’m curious to know what Kyle Walker has over Trent Alexander-Arnold?”

A fourth added: “Kyle Walker is actually turning into a bad footballer. So many loose passes and he’s not as quick as he once was.”
