Finland 0-1 England (Grealish, 18)
Cool finish from Grealish who put’s England ahead. Gomes gets the assist and it’s Grealish cooly slots it past the Finnish goal keeper ending a great move from England.
First Half: Finland 0-0 England
Finland 0-0 England
“England are trying to play out from the back. It was good defending in the end from John Stones to bail out Gomes for that earlier chance.
“There have been two or three cheap passes so England need to compose themselves. They have improved since those shaky moments when they were giving it away. They can’t afford to do that as they will get punished.”
Finland 0-0 England
12: Kane over-hits a pass forward, trying to find Palmer on the right hand side. There’s too much on the pass and it goes behind for a Finnish goal kick.

10: Bellingham picks up the ball from deep and combines with Grealish and lays it off to the forward. Grealish plays it back to Bellingham but his shot is closed down quickly.
Finland 0-0 England
“Two sloppy moments already from England playing out from the back. They started poorly against Greece and they’ve done the same here.
“Alexander-Arnold getting caught out at left-back isn’t a great endorsement for selecting him in that position but the players have to be sharper.”
Finland 0-0 England
“That chance started with Gomes giving the ball away cheaply.
Finland 0-0 England
7: Half a chance for Finland! Gomes gives the ball away in midfield. Finland counter but Stones blocks Kalman’s initial shot in the box.
Finland 0-0 England
“A expected, Trent Alexander-Arnold is playing at left-back and Jude Bellingham in the number 10 role.
“England have had good early possession, but the atmosphere is still noisy. A real sense of occasion for the Finland supporters.”
Finland 0-0 England
“Why can’t Carsley still be in the frame? You can’t judge someone on one game. Fair enough, if he picked the same team and formation as Gareth Southgate [and got a poor performance and result] but he’s trying to play front foot football and that’s what we want to see on the international front.
“What hasn’t got us over the line in the past has been sitting back. Why shouldn’t he still be in the frame? I don’t see why he shouldn’t be.
“People already know that if you’re not performing, you come out of the side, as we have seen with Jordan Pickford. Harry Kane playing gives us more of a focal point so I do think we will see a completely different performance to the one against Greece.”
Finland 0-0 England
4: Rice is warned for an excited start to the game.
Running forward in the opposition box he pulls down the Finnish defender trying to bring a ball under control.
Finland 0-0 England
“It’s a massive game for Lee Carsley as England need a big reaction from the midweek game. It was way below an average performance.
“Yes, there were changes, but England have to start the game at a high tempo. The formation and the balance looks a lot more comfortable. I fancy them to come out the traps and play on the front foot.”
Finland 0-0 England
3: Bellingham pokes a ball into the box to find Rice who makes a darting run into the box.
Bellingham just gets it wrong and Hradecky gathers.

1: Kick-off! The first whistle blows in Helsinki!
Can England bounce back from Thursday night’s poor display?
‘Carsley has had taste of negativity’
“He’s had a bit of negative publicity after the result the other night. He’s now had a taste of it, after a disappointing result, and he may be asking himself if he really wants this.
“On Thursday, it was an early mistake from Pickford which I felt sent a nervous message throughout the whole team. They didn’t improve much after that.
“I just couldn’t believe some players didn’t make proper decision-making and making tackles.
“Lee probably couldn’t believe the schoolboy defending. Is it up to the manager to get them in the right mindset? It’s up to the players themselves to start the game properly.
“It’s hard to
A sell-out in Helsinki
Sky Sports News’ Tim Thornton in Helsinki:
“A huge sense of anticipation inside Helsinki’s Olympic Stadium.
“A sell-out crowd is here to see if Finland can register a first ever win over England.”
So who will be the next England manager?
Lee Hendrie on Sky Sports News:
“Pep is top of the pile for me.
“For me, it should be going all out for Pep Guardiola.
“We have had one bad performance and Lee Carsley has gone down the pecking order. I think he wants the job on merit. I’ve been pleased with what he has done so far – I hope the players he has selected put on a very good performance tonight.
“If he comes out tonight winning 4-0 or 5-0, what will they do next? I thought Lee was going to get the
A reminder of how things shape in England’s group
The standings in Nations League Group B2 ahead of this evening’s matches.
“Lee Carsley is trying things out, he is trying to be different, he is trying to play on the front foot.
“I like that he has freshened things up but he had to go back to a bit more of a solid formation because we looked so exposed against Greece. I thought it should have been changed at half-time and we should have got a centre-forward on. Ollie Watkins must have been absolutely sick.”
Is there anything to suggest Carsley wants the job full time?
“Probably not. Lee [Carsley] has had the same message for the last month or so, since he got the job.
“He is just focusing on the upcoming games and that’s what he was told by the English FA. There haven’t been any signs or messages that he is desperate for this job.
“He said a few years ago that he didn’t want to work with senior players, as he was comfortable working with younger players.
“He’s entitled to changer his mind, but certainly over the last month or two he’s not sent out any message that’s he’s desperate for this job.”
