encouragement as Mohamed Salah dream could be fulfilled

Liverpool have been linked with a transfer move for one of Mohamed Salah’s international team-mates

Omar Marmoush of Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt’s director of football has admitted reported Liverpool target Omar Marmoush could be sold by the club during the January transfer window. The Reds are among the Premier League clubs to have been linked with a move for the forward, who is leading the way in the Bundesliga scoring charts with six goals to his name.

Marmoush is believed to be “holding out for a dream Premier League move”, which could come true should clubs come calling for the 25-year-old in the coming months.

Suggesting Frankfurt could be open to selling their star man, Eintracht director of football Markus Krösche remarked: “It is true that Omar made a very clear commitment to us in the summer. He has developed well and still has a lot of potential to develop further. For us, we don’t want to lose so many key players.

“I have to honestly say that no Eintracht player is unsellable (but) we want to keep the team together. I talk about him (Marmoush) after every game. But that’s a good thing. Omar gives our game an incredible amount.”

Marmoush is a team-mate of Mohamed Salah’s at international level and has represented the senior Egypt national team since 2021, since going on to become a regular starter in the side.

He saw a £20milliion switch to Nottingham Forest fall through in August after his current employers pulled the plug on a deal by upping their asking price on deadline day. This has left the player frustrated, according to a Mirror report, as he is “desperate” to join Salah in England

Arsenal, Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur are all said to be admirers of Marmoush, along with Liverpool, meanwhile Crystal Palace are claimed to be “watching developments” amid doubts over the future of Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Discussing the influence Salah has had on his career earlier this year, Marmoush told the Bundesliga’s official Facebook account: “I’m learning everything from Mohamed Salah on and off the pitch. It’s a great honour to play alongside one of the best players in the world.

“I always learn from him how to become a professional, both on and off the field. He’s like a big brother to me and the other young players. He talks to us about sleep, work ethic – everything. I constantly seek his advice and benefit from his vast experience in matches. Playing alongside him is a fantastic feeling.”
