Liverpool ‘want’ three Bayer Leverkusen stars as £16m target

Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen

Liverpool are already being linked with several potential new signings months before the January transfer window even opens. The Reds had a relatively quiet summer, with Federico Chiesa the only new addition to the squad for this term.

Giorgi Mamardashvili was signed from Valencia, but the goalkeeper will spend the remainder of the campaign on loan with the La Liga club before moving to Anfield in 2025. It now remains to be seen if Liverpool will look to strengthen their squad further when the transfer window reopens in January.

For the time being, attention remains on the fixtures ahead, with Liverpool facing West Ham in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night. The Reds go into the fixture on the back of a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League at the weekend.

Liverpool are reportedly looking to sign three Bayer Leverkusen players in 2025. According to Caught Offside, Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Exequiel Palacios are all targets for the Reds.

The report states that Liverpool are expressing an interest in Frimpong, who is also wanted by Manchester United. Frimpong is reportedly valued as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold should a new contract not be agreed.

Liverpool are also reportedly mentioned as having a ‘strengthening’ interest in Wirtz but may have to battle Real Madrid for his signature. Palacios is mentioned in the report as being a target for the Reds, who may be put off by Leverkusen’s €60 million (£50 million) price tag.

Elsewhere, Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Sevilla defender Loic Bade. According to Spanish news outlet AS, Bade has been identified by the Reds as their preferred centre-back target for 2025.

The report claims that Liverpool view Bade as the ideal candidate to be Virgil van Dijk’s long-term successor. It has been claimed that Bade was the subject of interest from Stuttgart and Roma, with the latter offering €20 million (£16.7 million) for the defender who arrived from Stade Rennais back in 2023.
