How Liverpool players fared on international duty over the week

Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konaté, Cody Gakpo, Virgil van Dijk, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch were all in action for their countries.

The international break has often been a challenging period for club teams.

It usually sees key players departing to represent their nations, leaving managers holding their breath over possible injuries or fatigue.

For Liverpool, this break was no different, with several first-team stars called up to national duty.

Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konaté, Cody Gakpo, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch were all in action for their countries.

They all played pivotal roles for their respective countries, showcasing the form that has made them crucial for the Reds.

How did the players do?

As reported on Liverpoolfc.com, Mohamed Salah continued his fine form for Egypt, netting a crucial goal in their 2-0 win against Mauritania.

His attacking output remained at its best, boasting a perfect 100% shot accuracy and creating 4 chances throughout the game.

Salah’s contributions were not limited to just the offensive side, as he made 4 recoveries and won 50% of his duels.

In defense, Ibrahima Konaté had a standout performance for France against Israel.

The towering centre-back completed an impressive 96% of his passes (78/81), demonstrating composure in possession.

His defensive display was solid too, winning 50% of his ground duels, making 4 long balls, and playing the full 90 minutes.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, always a playmaker for England, played a key role in their 2-1 loss to Greece.

He contributed 4 key passes, created a big chance, and completed 81% of his long balls.

Alexander-Arnold’s 87 touches also underlined his involvement in the match’s flow.

Cody Gakpo was equally influential in the Netherlands’ 1-1 draw in Budapest against Hungary.

He registered 1 assist and created 5 chances.

With an 85% pass accuracy and winning 6 of his 9 duels, Gakpo’s performance further solidified his importance to the Dutch team.

Also for the Netherlands, Virgil van Dijk was at his authoritative best.

Although he was sent off in the latter parts of the game, the Liverpool captain completed a remarkable 145 out of 152 passes.

The match which also featured Szoboszlai saw Ryan Gravenberch impress with his energy in midfield.

He recovered the ball 6 times and making 15 passes into the final third.

Liverpool return to English Premier League football on October 20.

They take on long time rival, Chelsea, at Anfield.
